Contact Coach Farrell: Mike Farrell returns to Lafayette for his second season as a Leopard assistant coach, one of two of O'Hanlon's former players to join him on the current coaching staff. Farrell spent the 2004-05 and 2005-06 basketball seasons as an assistant coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. near his hometown of DeLand. While there, he helped guide Embry-Riddle to a pair of NAIA Division II National Tournament Sweet 16 appearances that accompany a pair of Florida Sun Conference titles. During his initial time in Kirby Sports Center, Farrell served as the Leopards' team captain in 2002-03 and 2003-04, the first such player to do so consecutively during the O'Hanlon era. He earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors as a senior. Farrell embodied the ideal of the student-athlete, twice earning CoSIDA Academic All-District II honors while being named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004. He graduated with a degree in American Studies. Farrell is the co-founder of Diabeteshappens, with Tyler Byrne, Diabeteshappens (www.diabeteshappens.com) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of the disease and providing an open environment for those suffering from the disease.
