Pat Brogan, who is in his eighth season, joined the Lafayette coaching staff in the summer of 1994. Brogan was promoted to the top assistant coach spot prior to the 1997-98 season. In that capacity, Brogan focuses primarily on recruiting duties in addition to day-to-day responsibilities.
Beginning with the 1991-92 season, Brogan served as an assistant varsity men’s basketball coach at Muhlenberg College for three years. For two of those seasons, he headed up the school’s junior varsity program. He was a head men’s coach at the World Scholar Athlete Games in 1993, an event which was comprised of high school and college athletes from 100 countries.
A 1990 graduate of Dickinson College with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology, Brogan was captain of the varsity men’s basketball team that notched the second-most victories in a single season in 1989-90. After graduation, he went to Ireland during the 1990-91 academic year to play for the semi-professional Tolka Rovers of the Dublin Division I League and played in the County Cavan All-Star Classic which featured the top-10 American players. He also served as an assistant women’s coach for the Tolka Rovers in 1990-91.
Off the court in Ireland, Brogan served as head coach of the Tolka Rovers’ Under-19 Boys’ team and was an assistant for the Tolka women’s professional team. He also was the director/coach of the Athy student basketball tournaments where he supervised up to 1,200 students and 80 teams per week.
Brogan earned his master of education degree in sports management from East Stroudsburg University in 1993.
