Matt Blue begins his first season as an assistant coach at Lafayette, joining the staff in May.
Blue comes to Lafayette after spending the 2008-09 season at Susquehanna University, a Division III institution in Selinsgrove, Pa. He helped lead the Crusaders to an 18-8 overall mark and a 13-3 finish in the Landmark Conference where Susquehanna advanced to the conference tournament final.
"Matt is a welcome addition to our coaching staff and comes highly recommended. Having played at St. Lawrence and worked at Susquehanna, he is very familiar with the academic and athletic challenges facing our student-athletes," O'Hanlon said. "Matt's New England roots also further expand our recruiting base."
A native of Bellingham, Mass., Blue has a connection to the Lafayette coaching staff through top assistant coach Josh Loeffler, who was an assistant at St. Lawrence during the 2004-05 season when Blue was a member of the team. Blue went on to serve as the captain of St. Lawrence's squad during the 2006-07 season. He played four seasons for the Division III Saints and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2007.
Blue was an assistant coach with the Bellingham High School varsity boys' basketball team while working as a teacher in the Town of Bellingham school district during the 2007-08 academic year.
