The Lafayette men's basketball team could not get defensive stops when it had to and Lehigh made them pay with an efficient day from the floor as the visitors walked away from round one of the crosstown rivalry with a 75-71 win on Saturday afternoon at Kirby Sports Center.

Lehigh has had an up-and-down season thus far, but has come out victorious in its last two contests to sit at 3-4 in conference play and 9-9 overall. The Hawks, coming off a 14-18 overall mark in their 2013-14 campaign, defeated Holy Cross and Navy, both at home this past week, 69-64 and 61-47, respectively.

The Lafayette men's basketball team suffered its second straight heartbreaking loss on Wednesday evening, this time at the hands of Holy Cross. An open look from senior captain Seth Hinrichs at the final buzzer went long to give the Crusaders a 74-73 victory.

With one point on Wednesday evening, senior Joey Ptasinski would reach the 1,000-point plateau for his career. If that milestone is reached, Ptasinski, senior Dan Trist and classmate Seth Hinrichs would become the first trio of 1,000-point scorers on the same team in Lafayette history.

The Lafayette men's basketball team lost in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon inside Kirby Sports Center as American's Pee Wee Gardner hit a floater in the lane with 0.3 seconds left on the clock to sink the Leopards, 78-76.
