Spotted on Campus With...A.J. Miller
June 22, 2009
Easton, Pa. - While things may have slowed down in the Lafayette athletic department during the summer months, many student-athletes remain on College Hill to pursue various academic and athletic endeavors. Lafayette College Athletics has decided to catch up with some of the student-athletes to see what they're doing for the summer and to get to know them a little better. Today, Lafayette junior baseball player A.J. Miller talked about everything from summer ball to early morning practices. What are your plans for your summer at Lafayette? I basically play baseball every day (with the Lehigh Valley Catz) and work the summer baseball camps at Lafayette. What's the best part about playing summer ball? It gives you the opportunity to work on things and get better for the upcoming season. You also get the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things from them. What is your role on the team? Now that I am an upper classman, I guess it would be to be a role model for the incoming freshmen and the sophomores. Hopefully teaching them what I learned from the juniors and seniors when I was a freshman and sophomore. What is your earliest baseball memory? Playing little league with my friends and being coached by my dad. What can you take from your sport and incorporate into everyday life? You have your slumps and your hot streaks in baseball, and that's just like life. You just have to know that both the game and life aren't easy and that you can always work through the slumps. A talent I'd like to have is... Speed, ha. I'm not the faster person around. The sport I'm worst at is... Golf. It frustrates me more than anything. Something about me that others would be surprised to hear is... I played the piano for eight or nine years. What is your favorite roadtrip and why? I like going to Army because it's a really nice place to play and there is always a good size crowd there. What is your favorite activity outside of your sport? Why? Racquetball because I like to beat (teammate) A.J. Pisarri What do you still wish to accomplish? I want to win a Patriot League Championship. Who is the most influential person in your life? My mother. Without her, I would not be where I am today. Word Association: Your coaches: Dedicated Your teammates: Characters Preseason: Gassers
