Three Leopards Earn Academic All-League Recognition
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Seniors Trevor Houck and Alex Woinski as well as junior Luke Robinson of the Lafayette baseball team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team on Friday morning, as announced by the conference.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
This is Woinski’s third consecutive year on the squad, while Houck and Robinson received the honors for the first time in their careers.
Woinski carried a .288 average at the dish with 11 doubles, five home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. In the classroom, the Neuroscience major held a 3.63 grade-point average heading into his final semester on College Hill.
Houck held the top spot in the Leopards’ rotation during his senior season and in 12 appearances, fanned 40 batters. The Westminster, Md. native finished the 2017 campaign tied for sixth in Division I baseball in complete games with four. As a Civil Engineering major, Houck compiled a 3.79 GPA through seven semesters.
Robinson led the Maroon and White with six homers on the season to go along with 30 RBIs, 10 doubles, four triples and 24 runs scored with a .260 average. The Economics and Government & Law major also excelled in the classroom with a 3.81 GPA.
