EASTON, Pa. - Junior second baseman Kevin Casey has been named Second Team All-Patriot League, as voted upon by the league's head coaches and announced by the league office this afternoon. Casey hit .318 with 10 RBI in league play for the Lafayette baseball team.
Casey started at second base for the Leopards' first 14 Patriot League outings prior to an injury. In addition to his .318 batting average, Casey posted a .444 on-base percentage and a .477 slugging percentage. He reached base safely in all but two league contests and recorded a hit in 10 games against league foes. Casey hit one double - a three-run two-bagger in the 12th inning of a win at Holy Cross - and belted a pair of home runs.
Overall this season, Casey is hitting .330 in 100 at-bats for the Leopards. He has driven in 17 runs and smacked three roundtrippers in 31 games.
The No. 4-seeded Leopards will begin the Patriot League Tournament on Saturday, May 12 with a doubleheader at top-seed Army. If necessary, game three of the best-of-three semifinal series will be played on Sunday, May 13.
