Ruck Garners Academic All-District II First Team Honors

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette baseball senior Andrew Ruck was one of three outfielders to claim a spot on the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District II First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced Friday.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic regions, with District II consisting of institutions located in Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Each team honors four infielders, three outfielders, two pitchers and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
A Mechanical Engineering major from Whitby, Ontario, Ruck holds a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average and is coming off a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall semester. A three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection, Ruck leads Lafayette with a .329 batting average on a team-high 53 base hits and three home runs. He leads Lafayette's regulars with a .429 slugging percentage and is second on the squad with a .416 on-base percentage. An everyday left fielder, Ruck has played in 44 games, making 43 starts, is tied for second on the team with seven stolen bases and is third with 17 runs batted in.
Ruck and Holy Cross' Jordan Enos, who was a District I choice, were the only two Patriot League players honored with the prestigious honor and will be considered for the Capital One Academic All-America Team.

Lafayette returns to the diamond on Saturday for the start of a three-game home-and-home series with Manhattan. The Leopards and Jaspers are slated to play a doubleheader on Saturday before Sunday's Senior Day contest in Easton. First pitch on Sunday at Kamine Stadium is set for 1:05 p.m.
