Lafayette concludes its 2014 campaign with a non-conference weekend series with North Carolina Central. The two sides will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon and both games will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network. Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the Class of 2014 will be honored in a pregame ceremony.

Before Sunday's game, Lafayette's four seniors will be honored with a pregame ceremony on the field. The Class of 2014 consists of pitchers Connor Ortolf and Robert Tatum and position players Eric Anderson and Andrew Santomauro

The forecast for Easton on Saturday calls for partly cloudy conditions and a high 67degrees. Sunday is expected to be 64 degrees and mostly sunny in the afternoon. There is a 20 percent chance of rain each day. 

The Eagles, out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, are led offensively by Tyler Simpson and Carter Williamson. Simpson is batting .367 with 54 hits, including 10 doubles and two home runs. He has driven in 33 and has scored 29 runs. Williamson has also collected 54 base hits and is hitting .360 on the season. He leads the team with 36 runs batted in. Zack Lee has tallied 52 hits and has compiled 42 runs scored and 13 stolen bases to lead the team in both categories. Christian Triplett is NC Central’s leading power threat with seven big flies.

On the mound, Kyle Shields is 3-3 with a 3.45 earned-run average, the lowest amongst starters. He is holding opposing hitters to a .246 average. Jacob Russell sports a team-low 3.10 ERA in 20 appearances out of the bullpen for the Eagles.

This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
