EASTON, Pa. - Junior Ted Gjeldum shut out Holy Cross on Sunday and in the process collected Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending April 30.
With the Leopards needing to win one of two games on Sunday at Holy Cross to qualify for the three-team Patriot League Tournament field, Gjeldum was at his best. He gave up just two hits, one in the fourth inning and one in the seventh. The lefty struck out four and walked one in his first complete game of the season. On the season, Gjeldum holds a 4-4 record with a 4.91 ERA.
Lafayette returns to action on Tuesday when the Leopards host Temple at 3:30 p.m. at the Class of 1978 Stadium. The team will turn right around and welcome NYIT on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before playing Fairleigh Dickinson in a home-and-home series this weekend.
