Lafayette Travels to Lewisburg, Pa. over the weekend for its final Patriot League series of the season. The Leopards will take on Bucknell in back-to-back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The Maroon and White enter the weekend 4-12 in league play, while Bucknell sits at 8-8 in the conference.
Last Time Out
Lafayette dropped a non-league contest at Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon, 9-5. Centerfielder Andrew Santomauro led the way in the defeat, going 4-for-5 with four RBI. Santomauro notched two doubles and a triple while knocking in four of the five Leopards runs. James McCool went 2-for-4 and scored two runs on the afternoon.
Carter Bumgardner powers the Bison offense with a team-high 26 RBI and is second on the squad with a .297 batting average on 41 hits. Corey Furman leads the team with a .299 average on 47 hits and is tied for second with 17 RBI. Travis Clark has the most hits for the Bison with 49, including 14 doubles and two home runs.
The Leopards hold a 110-60 lead in the all-time series dating back to 1897. Lafayette has taken 3-out-of-4 each of the past two seasons.

On Saturday the forecast for Lewisburg is sunny with a high of 69 degrees, while Sunday is mostly sunny with a high of 67 degrees and a 10 percent chance of rain.
Senior Andrew Ruck has paced the Leopard offense with a team-high three home runs, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored. Ruck leads the team with 48 hits and a .327 batting average. Junior centerfielder Andrew Santomauro has racked up 40 hits including a team-high four triples and 11 doubles, while also scoring 21 runs. In right field, Thomas Dunleavy has scored 10 runs and has notched 27 hits this season. Dunleavy is batting .257 with eight RBI.
Rookie of the Week
Lafayette’s freshman right hander Mitch Leeds was chosen as the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week after his most impressive pitching performance of the season. In front of a national television audience, Leeds fired eight scoreless innings, while allowing just three hits in a 1-0 extra-inning loss to Navy.
Freshman Campbell Lipe is third on the team with a .268 batting average on 26 hits. The rookie has appeared in 37 games making 30 starts in his first year on College Hill. Lipe is tied for second on the team with 16 RBI.
Patriot League Update
Patriot League play continued last weekend with Holy Cross sweeping Lehigh and clinching a berth in the Patriot League Tournament. Army took three-out-of-four from Bucknell and has also clinched a spot in the conference playoffs. Heading into this weekend, Holy Cross sits at the top at 12-4, followed by Army’s 10-6 record. Navy holds a 9-7 mark just ahead of Bucknell’s 8-8 record. Lehigh claims fifth place at 5-11, while Lafayette sits at 4-12. Over the weekend Navy will visit Lehigh and Army will host Holy Cross. The Leopards need a four-game sweep of the Bison to have a chance to qualify for the postseason for the second straight campaign.
The Leopards will host Rider on Wednesday at Kamine Stadium. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
