Game Preview
Lafayette makes the trip to West Long Branch, N.J. to challenge Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon. The Leopards come into the contest 7-34 overall, while the Hawks hold a 23-16 record. First pitch from MU Baseball Field is set for 3:30 p.m.  

Last Time Out
The Leopards dropped three games in a four-game series to Navy over the weekend. Lafayette took the second game on Saturday in extra innings, 7-6. Junior centerfielder Andrew Santomauro powered the Leopards in their only win, going 4-for-5 with 2 RBI, including the game-winning RBI double in the 10th inning. 

Monmouth Preview
The Hawks are led offensively by Owen Stewart, who has 53 hits and a .396 batting average thus far. Stewart and senior classmate Joe Bamford (.331 avg.) are tied for the team lead with 23 RBI apiece. Jake Gronsky (.327 avg.) has hit three home runs and knocked in 22 runs, while Steve Wilgus (.306 avg.) is the fourth Monmouth player hitting above .300 this season.

The Hawks lead the all-time series 16-10 and took last season’s game, 7-2, in West Long Branch, N.J..

Outfield Production
Senior Andrew Ruck has paced the Leopard offense with a team-high three home runs, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored. Ruck leads the team with 47 hits and a .331 batting average. Junior centerfielder Andrew Santomauro has racked up 36 hits including a team-high three triples and 9 doubles, while also scoring 21 runs. In right field, Thomas Dunleavy has scored nine runs and has notched 30 hits this season. Dunleavy is batting .257 with eight RBI.

Impact Rookie 
Freshman Campbell Lipe is third on the team with a .269 batting average on 25 hits. The rookie has appeared in 36 games making 29 starts in his first year on College Hill. Lipe is tied for second on the team with 16 RBI.

Patriot League Update
Patriot League play continued last weekend with Holy Cross sweeping Lehigh and clinching a berth in the Patriot League Tournament. Army took three-out-of-four from Bucknell and have also clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament. Heading into this weekend, Holy Cross sits at the top at 12-4, followed by Army’s 10-6 record. Navy holds a 9-7 record just ahead of Bucknell’s 8-8 mark. Lehigh claims fifth place at 5-11, while Lafayette sits at 4-12.

On Deck
The Leopards will travel to Bucknell over the weekend for the final Patriot League series of the season.

Preseason Recognition
The Leopards were picked to finish fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, after going 14-37-1 a season ago. Lafayette senior co-captain Kevin Casey garnered Preseason All-Patriot League honors at second base on the League’s inaugural preseason team. Casey hit .330 last season with 17 RBI.
