Fioretti and Revelle Collect Patriot League Baseball Weekly Honors Following Series Sweep With Canisius

March 8, 2005

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette parlayed its three-game series sweep over Canisius into a sweep of the Patriot League Baseball weekly honors. Senior leftfielder Rob Fioretti (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) earned the Offensive Player of the Week award for the second time in his career while junior righthander Matt Revelle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) collected his second straight Pitcher of the Week honor.

Batting from the second spot in the lineup, Fioretti posted a .636 batting average for the Canisius series. He drove in five runs and managed seven hits in 11 at-bats. The three-year starter also ripped his first career home run as part of a 12-run fifth-inning rally in a 13-7 win. The Leopards trailed 6-1 before the rally. Fioretti also won the award in his sophomore season (April 7, 2003) when he hit .474 and scored seven runs over a six-game span.

Revelle made one appearance for the reporting week, but it was enough to earn him a second straight Pitcher of the Week honor. He struck out a career-high 10 batters and walked just one in a 7-2 victory. Through his first two starts of the season, Revelle is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA and 15 strikeouts to just two walks. His first outing of the season was a shutout at Gerogetown on Feb. 27 when he struck out five in a 3-0 victory.

Matt Revelle earned his second straight Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor.

Lafayette (4-1) will return to action on March 12 when the Leopards play Boston College. That game is the first of several on the Leopards' Spring Break Trip to Florida when they will also face Pittsburgh, Manhattan and Florida Atlantic from March 11-17.
