The 2011 season will be the fifth for Rick Clagett in the Lafayette dugout. Clagett, who previously served as the top assistant coach at Villanova, serves as the Leopards' pitching coach and is also responsible for coordinating recruiting efforts.
At Villanova, Clagett was the pitching coach and recruiting and admissions coordinator. He was also the director of the Wildcats' camps, served as travel coordinator and assisted in the team's booster proceedings.
Prior to Villanova, he worked for his alma mater, Utah, where his tasks included recruiting and admissions duties, as well as daily efforts with the pitching staff.
As an undergraduate, Clagett was a standout pitcher for the Utes, serving as the team captain in 1998. As a senior, he was among the team leaders with six victories. In 1997, Clagett's 10 wins led the team, placing him one shy of tying the school record. He was instrumental in leading Utah to the Western Athletic Conference Northern Division Championship.
Clagett also pitched collegiately at Cypress Junior College (Calif.) from 1994-96.
A Las Vegas native, Clagett earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science from Utah in 1999. He and his wife Jill currently reside in Bethlehem. They welcomed twin girls - Avery and Cameron - to their family in July of 2009.
