Dickson enters his first season as a volunteer assistant with after previously serving as the head coach at NAIA institution Brescia University in Ownesboro, Ky.
“I am excited to welcome Andrew Dickson to the Lafayette baseball family and our coaching staff,” said head coach Joe Kinney said. “Adding a former college head coach to my staff will provide immediate assistance to all aspects of our program. Andrew’s experience as a head coach at Brescia will allow him to work with all of our position groups as well as assisting with recruiting, scouting, and player development.”
Dickson took over the head coaching reigns of his alma mater Brescia in 2015 after graduating in 2012. While at Brescia he led a fundraising campaign that raised over $ 25,000 for field improvements. Dickson also oversaw the development of KIAC and RSC gold glove winners at both third base and shortstop. During his tenure, he led the Bearcats to back-to-back conference tournaments.
Prior to his time as a head coach at Brescia, Dickson spent time as an assistant coach at Indiana University Southeast, where he handled recruiting efforts as well as daily baseball operations. While there, he also coached three all-conference performers as well as acting as the hitting coach for a team squad that landed in the top 25 of the NAIA in team batting average in 2014 and 2015.
