EASTON, Pa. – Junior co-captain Rose Willey of the Lafayette cross country team has earned Academic All-Patriot League honors, the league announced Wednesday.

To qualify for Academic All-Patriot League status, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 GPA and be a key runner on the respective school’s squad.

Willey, a Brookfield, Conn. native, has been much more than just a key runner this year for Lafayette. She led her team with a ninth place finish at the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 27 and recorded a fourth-place mark, her best of the season, at the Lafayette/Lehigh Dual Meet on Sept. 14.

She recorded two other top-15 finishes on the season, taking 12th in the Lehigh Invitational on Aug. 31 and 14th in the Leopard Invitational on Oct. 13.

Willey earns her second straight appearance on the Academic All-Patriot League team and was also a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll the last two seasons.

Willey will be a key member of the Lafayette Track & Field squad as a distance runner. The track & field season kicks off on Dec. 8 at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
