Deemer Named Cross Country Rookie of the Week

EASTON, Pa.- Lafayette cross country freshman Alexa Deemer was named Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, the League announced this afternoon. The Bethlehem, Pa. native finished sixth overall in the Lafayette/Lehigh Dual Meet on Saturday morning.

“Alexa ran a great race in a pressure situation against some of the best female runners in the Patriot League,” coach Michelle Curcio said. “Our staff believes this is a great stepping stone for Alexa and we hope that she can continue to race at a high level the rest of the season.”

Deemer was the first freshman to cross the line in the meet with a time of 23:35.9 in the 6k. She was 43 seconds off the winning time in the race.

The cross country team will compete in the Paul Short Invitational on October 5 in Bethlehem, Pa.
