BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Lafayette cross country team competed in the Lafayette/Lehigh Dual Meet on Friday night, and relied on two of its captains for impressive times.
Junior co-captain Rose Willey crossed the line in fourth place, marking a time of 22:56. For the men, senior co-captain William Volkmann posted his second top-five spot of the season, taking fifth with a time of 25:15. Tyler Mueller took the top spot for the men, while Julia Perry owned the top of the board for the women.
Freshman Thomas Day followed Volkmann for Lafayette, finishing 18th at a 26:45 pace. Seniors Dayne Mosconi and Chris Parker secured the 20th and 22nd positions with times of 27:13 and 27:31, respectively. Rounding out the squad were sophomore Andrew Warshauer,who took the 24th spot with a time of 27:42, and freshman Matt McMurray, who’s 28:24 time was good enough for 28th place.
Behind Willey for the women were freshmen Katherine Culver and Stephanie Benko, notching the 12th and 13th spots with times of 23:27 and 23:37. Sophomore Grace Watters and freshman Zoe Nagasing crossed the line at 23:48 and 24:53 respectively, good enough for 15th and 20th. Senior Julissa Muschlitz, sophomore Simran Bains, and sophomore Vicky Luongo held the final three spots for the squad at 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
Next up for the Leopards will be the Paul Short Invitational, as they head back to Bethlehem for a third-straight meet on Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.
