Cross Country Wraps-up Season at NCAA Regionals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lafayette cross country team’s season came to a close this past Friday as the men and women took part in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at Lehigh.
The women’s team earned its second consecutive top 25 finish at the Regional, finishing two spots better than last year in 22nd. Freshman Gabrielle Galletta was the first Leopard over the finish line in the 6K, finishing 99th in the field of 193 with a new personal-best of 22:06.2. Emily Moore was next up for Lafayette, clocking in at 22:29.7, which was good for 124th.
Lafayette finished ahead of Patriot League foe Loyola as well as Seton Hall and Rider in the 6K. Penn State won the event with 31 points, while Villanova (60) and Georgetown (109), finished second and third, respectively.
On the men’s side of things, Kelvin Serem paced the Leopards once again this season, crossing the finish line in 33:25.1 in the 10K. That time placed the senior 148th in the field of 180. As a whole, Lafayette placed 25th, beating out Loyola.
Princeton earned first place with 57 points, while Navy came in second with a total score of 109.
With the cross country season now completed, the Lafayette runners will turn their attention to indoor track & field, which is set to begin on Dec. 8 in the Fast Times before Finals Meet hosted by Lehigh.
