Cross Country Participates at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Lafayette men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday. The women's team finished 21st of 29 teams while the men's squad took 23rd of 25.

Sarah Welsh-Huggins paced the Leopards on the 6,000 meter course, and was one of two Lafayette runners to cross the line in the top 100. The senior recorded a time of 23:50.1, coming in 70th overall. Classmate Lauren Kelly was the next finisher representing Lafayette, earning an 89th place finish with her time of 24:12.6. Sophomore Rose Willey, a 2011 Academic All-Patriot League Team selection, clocked in at 24:34.3 in 111th. In 150th place was Erika Stasakova, finishing in 25:19.1. Erin Mee and Grace Watters rounded out the competitors for Lafayette as they finished in 169th and 181st, respectively.

For the men's team, William Volkmann took 101st in the 10,000 meter run, crossing the line in 33:08.2. Behind Volkmann was freshman Zach Lizmi (137th) and senior Josh Sadlock (145th). Dayne Mosconi also claimed a spot in the top 150, finishing in 34:24.6. Sam Brinton took 157th overall with his time of 34:57.2 and Andrew Warshauer crossed the line in 35:50.4 in 167th.

Villanova took the women's team title while Georgetown won the men's race.
