Leopards Grab Top 25 Finish at NCAA Regionals
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Lafayette cross country team wrapped up its 2016 season with the women grabbing a top 25 finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon.
The Leopards placed 24th on the afternoon with sophomore Emily Moore setting the tone with a team-best time of 22:26, which was good for a top 100 finish among the 198 total runners competing.
Junior Katherine Millar was the second Leopard to cross with a time of 23:26. Following Millar was senior Brigid McGill as she crossed at 23:32. Crossing at a time of 25:00 was junior Jennifer Salvatore and rounding out the top five times for the Leopards was freshman Emily King at 25:22.
Penn St., which had four of its top five runners finish inside the top 10, took first place in the meet for the second consecutive year. Villanova and Penn closed out the top three team totals.
With the cross country season now completed, the Lafayette runners will turn their attention to indoor track & field, which is set to begin on Dec. 9 in a meet hosted by Lehigh.
