Cross Country Takes Part in Patriot League Championships
EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Patriot League Championships Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Campus Cross Country course at Lehigh.
In the women’s 6K, freshman Gabrielle Galletta paced the Leopards with a 35th place finish in the field of 109 runners. Her time of 22:23.7 marked a new personal best as she shaved three seconds off her previous best. Joining Galletta in the top 50 was junior Emily Moore, who finished with a time of 22:45.38. Margaret Schiazza was the next Leopard to cross the finish line, clocking in at 22:51.1 for a new PR and a 54th place finish.
On the men’s side of things the Leopards were led by senior Kelvin Serem, who finished with a time of 25:42.94 in the 8K. Michael Neeson was next to cross the finish line for Lafayette. The freshman earned a 63rd place finish with a new PR of 26:42.5. David Sadvary (27:08.41), Matt Weintraub (27:08.91) and Mark DiPaola (27:08.91) finished back-to-back-to-back for the Maroon and White, claiming the 71st, 72nd and 73rdspots in the field of 107.
Lafayette placed eighth in the men’s 8K with 248 points, beating out Colgate (257) and Loyola (305). Army took home the top spot with a total score of 43 points and a total time of 2:02:55. In the women’s 6K the Leopards finished ninth overall with 241 points, finishing ahead of Colgate (288). Bucknell won the event with a total time of 1:47:36 and a total score of 58.
