Lafayette Places Second at the Leopard Invitational
EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men’s and women’s cross country team’s hosted the Leopard Invitational Saturday morning, finishing in second place in both the men’s 8K and the women’s 6K.
Both races featured four teams, with Bucknell taking the top spot in the women’s 6K with 22 points, while the Leopards’ outpaced St. Joseph’s (90) and Juniata College (95) with 46 points. On the men’s side St. Joseph’s took first with a score of 16, while the Leopards took second with a score of 63, outpacing Patriot League foe Bucknell, who finished fourth with 91 points.
In the women’s 6K junior Emily Moore finished first overall, pacing the field with a time of 23:15.10. Lafayette placed another runner in the top 10, as freshman Gabi Galletta finished sixth with a time of 24:06.92. Caroline Harmon (11th), Courtney Geisenheimer (16th ), and Mikayla Pacilio (20th), rounded out the Leopards’ representation in the top twenty, finishing with times of 24:40.85, 24:56.19, and 25:15.36, respectively.
Senior Kelvin Serem paced the Leopards once again in the 8K, finishing fifth overall, recording a time of 27:13.44 in the field of 47 runners. Matt Weintraub and David Sadvary joined Serem in the top-15, finishing back-to-back in 12th and 13th, respectively. Weintraub clocked in with a time of 27:48.0, while Sadvary finished three seconds behind his teammate with a time of 27:51.4. Mark DiPaola finished in 19th for the Leopards, posting a time of 28:09.9.
The Leopards have a two week layoff before returning to action at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday, Oct. 28. The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
