Cross Country Runs in Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Lafayette cross country team participated in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Friday afternoon.

Senior co-captain William Volkmann stole the show for the Lafayette men, finishing 11th in the 283-member field with a time of 25:36, just 33 seconds off the lead. Sophomores Andrew Warshauer and Andrew Haff took 107th and 115th respectively, with times of 26:59 and 27:04.

Freshman Matt McMurray and senior Chris Parker followed for Lafayette finishing in the 147th and 152nd positions. The men's squad placed 22nd out of 33 schools.

Junior co-captain Rose Willey and freshman Katherine Culver led the women's side, both finishing in the top-100 of a 342-member field. Willey took 56th with a time of 23:19, while Culver crossed the line at 23:28, good enough for 63rd.

Sophomore Grace Watters and senior co-captain Julissa Muschlitz followed, taking the 150th and 206th spots, respectively. Rounding out the women were sophomore Simran Bains at 231, freshman Stephanie Benko at 253, and sophomore Vicky Luongo crossing the line in 259th. The women's team finished 28th out of 39 teams.

Next up for Lafayette is its home event, the Leopard Invitational, on Oct. 13 at 10 a.m.
