Moore and Sadvary Set the Tone at 2016 Opener
LINCROFT, N.J. – To open up the 2016 season, the Lafayette men’s cross country team placed fourth and the women’s team placed third at the Monmouth XC Kickoff on Saturday morning.
Men’s Cross Country:
Out of the five Division I schools at the 6K race, the Lafayette men’s cross country team completed Saturday’s race with a fourth place finish and a team score of 103. Host Monmouth (26) placed first, followed by Seton Hall (40) and Wagner (86).
Leading the pack for the Leopards was sophomore David Sadvary, who placed 17th and posted a time of 20:15.18. Freshman Nate Becker performed well in his first collegiate race, finishing 25th with a time of 20:46.09. Just one second behind Becker was junior Tyler Pressl (20:47.40).
Women’s Cross Country:
Six Division I schools took part in the 4K race on Saturday morning and host school Monmouth took first place with a team score of 21. Seton Hall placed second and earned 65 points, just one more than the Leopards.
Sophomore Emily Moore picked up right where she left off in 2015 for the Leopards and started off her second year with a third place finish. Her final time was 14:52.11. Fellow sophomore Carolina Harmon rounded out the top 10 with a time of 15:18.15.
The Leopards will return to Easton, Pa. to host Lehigh on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.
