EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu - The Lafayette men's and women's cross country teams could not have written a better script to start the 2006 season. Both teams finished first at the five-team Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, N.Y. on Friday.

Junior Alex Wechsler convincingly won the men's race with a time of 13:31. Two other Leopards also cracked the top 10. Senior captain Ed Dutch placed second, coming in at 14:20. Freshman Sean Casey also put forth a solid performance, turning in a sixth place result with a time of 14:56.

The women were just as dominant, placing four in the top 10. Junior captain Lindsay Bryant paced the women with a second place performance at 17:22. Following Bryant was junior Brittany Waldron, who finished fourth with a 17:32 result. The Leopards also received impressive results from sophomore Frances Morro, who finished ninth with a 17:46 race, and senior Autumn Karwiel, who rounded out the top 10 with a 17:47 time.

The Leopards return to competition in two weeks when they participate in the Lehigh Dual on Sept. 15 in Bethlehem, Pa.
