Lafayette senior Jerome Rudolph was named Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after his performance at the Princeton New Year’s Invitational. The award is the first of Rudolph’s career.
Rudolph, a sprinter, opened the 2011-12 Indoor campaign with a second-place showing in the 60m dash. His time of 6.98 seconds was a new personal best and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. He also competed in the long jump for the first time in his career and took seventh overall with a distance of 22 feet 4 ½ inches. Rudolph is an Economics and Business major from Lithonia, Ga.
Sophomore Rachel Pena earned honorable mention recognition after finishing second in the weight throw with an ECAC-qualifying distance of 54 feet 10 inches. She also placed second in the shot put measuring 41 feet 8 ½ inches. Pena hails from Ridgefield Park, N.J. and is majoring in English.
