Track and Field Picks Up USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Lafayette track and field program was honored by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with multiple academic laurels, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The team as a whole was given the honor of All-Academic status after finishing the academic year with over a 3.00 cumulative team grade-point average.

Additionally, rising senior Dave McGriff was selected as an All-Academic Individual. To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above and have met at least one of the following academic standards: For the indoor season, they must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. Or, for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

McGriff was the Leopards’ lone representative at NCAA’s this past year, competing in the discus. His throw of 175’ 6”was good enough for 27th and was the top throw out of three Patriot League competitors.
