Pena Earns Division I All-Academic Status

EASTON, Pa. – Recent graduate Rachel Pena was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2014 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team this week. Pena is one of 727 Division I athletes to earn All-Academic status.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
Pena won the hammer throw at the Patriot League Championships this spring and qualified for both the ECACs and the NCAA Regionals.
Lafayette’s men’s and women’s teams were both named to the USTFCCCA 2014 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The women’s team boasted a 3.33 cumulative team GPA, while the men’s team averaged a 3.04 GPA.
