Pena, Riley Pick up Academic All-League Honors

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette women’s track and field senior Rachel Pena and men’s junior Juannell Riley were named to their respective Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Patriot League Teams, the League announced Monday afternoon.

Pena was a member of the Indoor Academic All-Patriot League Team earlier this year and continued her impressive season, earning First-Team All-League status in the hammer throw at the Patriot League Championships. The tri-captain holds a 3.34 cumulative GPA and has qualified for the ECACs in the hammer throw.

The Bronx, N.Y. native holds a 3.76 GPA as a double major in Government & Law and Philosophy. Riley qualified for the IC4As in the hammer when he took first with a toss of 175’1” at Lafayette’s 8-Way Meet. More recently at the Patriot League Championships, Riley threw a personal best 179’2”. His effort was good for seventh in the event.

The duo will compete at the ECAC and IC4A Championships this Friday through Sunday in Princeton, N.J.
