Three Lafayette student-athletes were honored by the Patriot League on Monday for their efforts at the Shamrock Invitational on March 15 - 17. Jerome Rudolph was named Track Athlete of the Week, Chris Luna earned Field Athlete of the Week Honors and Kevin Seery was chosen as the League’s Rookie of the Week.
Rudolph, a senior from Lithonia, Ga., took seventh in the finals of the men’s 100 meter dash with a time of 10.60. An Economics and Business major, Rudolph’s time qualified him for the IC4A Championships. The award is the second of Rudolph’s career after he claimed the honor during the indoor season.
Luna posted a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 212' 3", placing him fourth overall in the event. The sophomore’s effort ranks fifth all-time in Lafayette history and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. The Wood Ridge, N.J. native is majoring in Civil Engineering and earns the first weekly award of his career.
Also competing in the javelin was Seery, a freshman, whose fifth place throw of 200' 7" ranks eighth in school history. His effort also qualified him for the IC4A's as well as the 19 and Under U.S. Junior National Championships. Seery hails from Hanover Park, N.J. and is pursuing a degree in International Economics and Commerce.
Lafayette is preparing to host the 7-Way Meet on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
