Track Completes Day 1 of Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Lafayette track and field team opened its spring season at the Wake Forest Open Friday in Winston-Salem,N.C.
Senior Rachel Pena picked up where she left on in the indoor season qualifying for ECAC championships in the hammer throw with a 193'2" toss. She would go on to take eighth in the shot put with a 41'10" heave. Rachel Douglas tied a personal best in the high jump with a 5'3" leap, good for third place in the B flight.
On the men's side in the field, Mac Maguire qualified for IC4A Championships in the hammer throw with a personal best 176'2" throw. Jarrel Bobb took fourth in the triple jump with a 13.92 meter bound.
On the track, Stephanie Benko and Rose Willey finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Benko's time of 10:52.97, second place finish set a new personal best. Willey finished the race at 11:17.49. Thomas Day set a personal best en route to a third place finish in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase with a 9:36.34.
The Maroon and White will be back in action Saturday for Day Two of the Wake Forest Open.
