Pena Named to Academic All-League Team

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette Track and Field senior Rachel Pena was named to the Patriot League Academic All-Patriot League Team, the League announced Tuesday morning. Pena was one of 11 female athletes to earn Academic All-League status.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

The New Jersey native won the weight throw at the Patriot League Championships last weekend, tossing the weight 18.87 meters and earning a place on the All-Patriot League First Team. Pena, an English major, also carries a 3.33 cumulative GPA.

Pena will compete at the Women’s ECAC Championships on March 8 and 9 in Boston, Mass.
