Two Leopards Named to Academic All-League Team

EASTON, Pa. – Senior Nick Orzol and junior Elise Buffinton of the Lafayette track & field team have been selected as two of 21 student-athletes to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Tuesday.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

Orzol, a team captain that competes in both hurdles and jumps, owns a 3.94 cumulative GPA as an Electrical and Computer Engineering major.

Buffinton continues to rack up the honors following her record-breaking season. The junior pole-vaulter earned a 3.39 cumulative GPA and is an Engineering major. She also garnered Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week honors (Feb. 11), and honorable mention three of the first four weeks of the season.

Most recently, Buffinton took home the women’s pole vault title at the League Championships with a jump of 12’ 3.5”. Her school record, which she broke four times this season, stands at 12’ 9.5”.
