Buffinton Tabbed as Athlete of the Week

Easton, Pa. - Lafayette senior Elise Buffinton has been named the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Buffinton joins Rachel Pena as a two-time winner of the award.

The senior vaulted a height of 3.90 meters (12' 9 ½"), tying her own school record, en route to a top finish in the pole vault at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games. The mark cleared the ECAC standard of 3.60, and bested her closest competitor by 0.15 meters.

Sophomore Devin Smith was tabbed as an honorable mention following her fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 56.25.

The Maroon and White will be in Patriot League Championship action Feb. 21-23 in Lewisburg, Pa. Buffinton and Smith will be two of four Leopards that will travel to Boston on March 8-9 to compete in the ECAC Championships.
