NCAA Championship Hammer Throw Results

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ashley Harbin's record-breaking junior year came to an end on Wednesday at the NCAA Track and Field Championship Meet in Sacramento, Calif. Harbin tossed a 183'5" mark on her second attempt in the hammer throw, finishing 22nd in the preliminary round.

Her junior year ends boasting her first Patriot League Outdoor Championship in the hammer throw on May 4 and was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for her efforts. She was named Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week twice during the outdoor season and awarded ECAC Female Field Athlete of the Week once for the week ending April 10.

Harbin garnered All-East honors for her ECAC Championship victory in the hammer on May 13.

The Economics and Business major returns for her senior season as the outdoor record holder of the hammer throw. Throughout her junior year, she continued to break her own standard, her furthest launch (198'6") coming at last week's NCAA Regional meet in Gainesville, Fla. where she turned in a second place finish.

This marks the second consecutive year that Harbin has reached the NCAA Championship meet. Last season, she finished 16th in the preliminaries, missing the finals by 4 1/2 inches.
