Pena Competes in Women's Hammer Throw at NCAA Prelims
Sophomore takes 33th in event

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Sophomore thrower Rachel Pena competed in the NCAA East Preliminary Round of the hammer throw on Saturday afternoon hosted by the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium.
Pena qualified for the NCAA Preliminary Round after posting a distance of 183’ at the ECAC Championships. Her toss of 175’ 8’’ was good for 33rd overall, outside of the top 12, which qualified for the finals.
Georgia senior Nikola Lomnicka took the top spot after a throw of 210’ 10’’. Pena was the only Patriot League competitor in the field of 48 throwers.
