BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team saw several student-athletes post personal records at the Lehigh Games on Saturday. Vicky Melroy, Sarah Welsh-Huggins, Michael Thompson, Connor McGee and Stephanie Hazlett all improved their personal best marks in the final regular season event. In the women's field events, Allison Tether and Alana Taylor placed second and third, respectively, in the javelin. Melroy produced a personal best (166'9") in the hammer to finish second. Liz Graybill finished fourth in the discus (122' ½") and Kelsey Slater was right behind her in fifth. Hazlett finished third in the long jump with a personal best (17'6 ¼"). The men's field athletes were just as successful. McGee finished second in the discus with a personal best at 141' 2" and Matt Crystal followed in third place. Thompson had a personal best in the pole vault at 14'9", placing second. Matt Shaia finished third in high jump and Matt Crystal also finished third in the hammer. As for the runners, a trio of Leopards took the top three finishes in the 5000 meter run. Lauren Kelly and Kaela Mahon tied for first with a time of 19:31.20 and Tracey Kelly trailed them by .40 seconds. Allison Hawkey added another first place finish with a time of 2:17.53 in the 800m. Welsh-Huggins had a personal best in the 1500m (4:47.78) and Kyara Gray finished just shy of her personal best in the 400m (59.13). Sifiso Takirambudde tied for first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.74 Sean Casey finished second in 400m with a time of 50.22 while Chris Pregler also finished second in the 800m (1:57.14). The Leopards travel to West Point, N.Y., for the Patriot League Championships on Friday.
