PHILADELPHIA - Rachel Pena and Gwen Steckel represented the Lafayette women’s track and field team on Thursday at the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field.

Pena, a sophomore, placed third in the college hammer throw, with her toss of 181’ 11’’. The distance, which was a new personal best by nearly 10 feet helped Pena finish ahead of three other Patriot League performers. Navy’s Amanda Phelps finished eighth and Lehigh’s E’lana Lemon and Jimil Ataman placed 15th and 19th, respectively.

In the discus, Steckel earned a 24th place spot with her distance of 132’ 4’’. On Friday, Nick Henderson will participate in the men’s pole vault at the Relays.
