BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
The Lafayette track and field team competed at the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College over the weekend. Several Lafayette student-athletes qualified for ECAC and IC4A events with their performances.
For the women's team, Allyx Hunsberger took the top spot in the javelin with her ECAC qualifying mark of 137' 2''. Gwen Steckel also qualified for the ECAC meet with her effort in the discus. Steckel, a junior, took third with her toss of 141' 7''.
In the pole vault, Elise Buffinton placed second after clearing 11' 9 ¾'', just ahead of Claire Murphy's third place height of 11' 3 ¾''. Rose Willey also registered a second place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with her time of 11:44.25.
Nick Hepp highlighted the Lafayette men's team with his IC4A qualifying time in the 400 meter dash. Hepp clocked in at 48.11 and took first in the event. The junior sprinter also collected the runner-up position in the 200 meter dash, behind teammate Nick DeRosa, who crossed the line in 21.61.
Three-time Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week, Jerome Rudolph placed second in the 100 meter dash with his time of 10.72.
Ryan McVeigh took third in the 400 meter hurdles, breaking the tape in 54.34 seconds. Sophomore Mac Maguire also recorded third place marks in the hammer throw with his distance of 163' 6''.
The women's team next competes at the Penn Relay's on April 26, while the men's squad returns to action when both teams participate in the Lehigh Invitational on April 28.
