Leopards Reshuffle the Record Books at ECAC's
BOSTON, Mass. – The Lafayette men’s and women’s track and field teams had excellent showings at the IC4A/ECAC Championships over the weekend, reshuffling the record books in the process.
On the men’s side, senior Dave McGriff had an excellent day in the shotput, reaching 16.02m (52’ 63/4). The throw marked the second best of his career, and the senior now owns the fourth, fifth and seventh spots in Lafayette’s record books in the shotput.
The women’s 4x800 meter relay team broke the school record during prelims, as the team of Amy Hewlett, Alexa Kwapinski, Crosby Spiess and Caroline Harmon finished with a time of 8:58.78, shattering the previous record by seven seconds. In the finals, the team of Hewlett, Kwapinski, Spiess and Elizabeth Harmon earned All-East honors by earning an eighth place finish with a time of 9:04.82, which sits as the second fastest time in Lafayette history.
The Leopards have a week layoff before starting outdoor season on March 16 at the 49er Classic, hosted by UNC Charlotte.
