Track Finishes Seventh at League Championships

Patriot League Championships Final Results

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Lafayette Leopards completed the indoor track and field season Sunday afternoon with the final day of Patriot League Championship competition. The Maroon and White had success in both areas.

Two-time Patriot League Female Athlete of the week Elise Buffinton led the effort in the field when she matched the ECAC qualification standard of 3.60 meter (11'9 ¾"). She would finish second in the event. Fellow two-time Athlete of the Week honoree Rachel Pena took fourth place in the shot put with a heave of 12.84 meters (42' 1 ½").

On the men's side, Jarrel Bobb nabbed fifth place in the triple jump with a bound of 14.20 meters (46'7 ¼").

On the track, Devin Smith put forth another ECAC qualifying effort in the 400 meter dash when she took fourth place crossing the line a 56.78. Haley Langton dashed to a sixth place finish in the 500 meter dash with a 1:18.71 finish. Grace Watters matched Langton's finish in the 800 meter run finishing at 2:18.09. In the distance event, Rose Willey held a seventh place pace of 10:06.58.

The women didn't just see track success individually, the distance medley team of Watters, Tessa Broholm, Hallie Farber, and Stephanie Benko brought home a fourth place finish with a time of 12:21.76. Not to be outdone, Langton and Smith joined forces with Drew Davis and Erin Keen to take third place in the 4 x 400 meter relay at 3:55.99.

The Leopard women finished in seventh place with 53 points; the men also took seventh with 21 points.
