New Balance Invite Men Results Easton, Pa. – The Lafayette College track and field team sent members to the New Balance Invitational at the Armory in New York and to Monmouth University for open action Friday and Saturday afternoon. Neither event had team scoring.
The New Balance Invitational saw two-time reigning Female Field Athlete of the Week Rachel Pena take eighth out of 57 competitors in the weight throw championships with a distance of 17.72 meters (58’1.75”). In the college section of the pole vault Elise Buffinton placed eighth out of 26 by posting a height of 3.75 meters (12’3.5”). On the track, Rose Willey took sixth out of 38 in the eastern section of the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:08.10; on the men’s side of the same event Thomas Day placed fifth out of 25 crossing the line at 8:40.62.
In West Long Branch, N.J., Rachel Douglas sprang to a three-way tie in for second in the high jump with a 1.55 meter leap. Mara Blanchard placed sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.15 meters (10’4”). For the men, Colton Mitchell vaulted to a fifth place finish with a height of 4.5 meters (14’9”).
The Leopards will be back in action next weekend at the Armory for the Lafayette/Rider Invitational and Feb. 21-Feb. 23 when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for the Patriot League Championships.
