Seven Top-Five Finishes Highlight Busy Weekend for T&F

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men’s and women’s track and field teams took part in the Villanova Invite and the DeSchriver Invitational on Saturday.
The Leopards’ contingent at the Villanova Invite had a strong showing, claiming two top-five finishes. Senior Alexa Kwapinski claimed fourth in the 1000m run, rounding the track in 3:01.42. Gabi Galletta earned a fourth place finish in the 3000m, setting a new personal-record with a time of 10:04.53. Galletta’s time shifted Lafayette’s record books as well, as the freshman now sits third all-time in the indoor 3000m.
Caroline Harmon grabbed a top-20 finish in the mile, crossing the finish line with a PR of 5:09.91. The junior now sits ninth all time in Lafayette history. Elizabeth Harmon rounded out the top-20 in the mile, finishing in 5:11.04.
Amy Hewlett earned the top overall finish for the Leopards, winning the 800m run with a time of 2:19.76. Crosby Spiess was hot on Hewlett’s heels, coming in second behind her teammate with a time of 2:19.88.
Emily Becker finished third in the 1000m, rounding the track in 3:06.39, while Liv Palma grabbed fifth place with a time of 3:08.68. Sophia Sharpless set a PR in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 27.36, which was good for ninth place. Ainsley Jacobs earned a top-10 finish in the mile, running the race in 5:40.04.
On the men’s side, Mark DiPaola earned a top-five finish in the mile, finishing in 4:34.09. Anthony Thomas earned a top-ten finish in the 3000m, grabbing eighth with a time of 9:20.39.
The Leopards are back in action on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Fast Track National Invite.
