BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Members of the Lafayette men's and women's track and field team competed in the John Covert Classic at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday. Four individual student-athletes earned first place finishes in the event to represent Lafayette.

David Robinson claimed the top spot in the 60 meter dash, clocking in at 7.19 seconds. Mark Streisel also competed in the race, finishing fourth (7.35 seconds). Robinson also placed second in the 200 meter dash with his time of 23.01 seconds.

In the 500 meter dash, Neil Franzese crossed the line first in 1:08.83.

The men's triple jump saw three Lafayette competitors earn top five marks led by Nick Orzol's 13.39 meter leap, giving him first place. Brendan Harney (12.47m) and Carl Knowles (12.40m) took third and fourth, respectively. Additionally, Orzol placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.77 seconds.

In the pole vault, Nick Henderson and Michael Thompson took first and third in that order. Henderson vaulted 4.65 meters, while Thompson cleared 4.35 meters.

Chris Pregler's time of 2:02.02 was good enough for second in the 800 meter run, rounding out the men's top five times.

On the women's side, Stephanie Hazlett broke the finish line in 9.60 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to take second overall.

Brittany Powell placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.34 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Callie Arlo needed 1:03.19 to cross the line in third place.

In the pole vault, Elise Buffinton (second) and Claire Murphy (fourth) represented Lafayette in the top five.

Rachel Douglas's leap of 1.55 meters in the high jump was good for third place among the competitors.

Lafayette next meet is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10, when the Leopards' host the Lafayette/Rider Invitational at the Armory in New York, N.Y.
