Women’s Relay Team Shines at New Balance Invitational
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Leopards reshuffled the record books on Friday morning at the New Balance Invite at the Armory in New York City.
Lafayette earned a second place finish in the women’s distance medley, as the team of Alexa Kwapinski, Amy Hewlett, Crosby Spiess and Margaret Schiazza completed the relay in 11:57.07. The Leopards finished behind Duke University who claimed the top spot with a time of 11:42.66. The showing was good enough for second place on Lafayette’s all-time indoor leaderboard, while also acting as an ECAC qualifying time. Kwapinski is now a member of both the second and third-ranked relay teams in Lafayette history.
Morgan Nobles rounded out the action on the women’s side in the 3000m. Nobles crossed the finish line in 10:50.60, which set a new personal best for the senior.
On the men’s side, senior Matt Weintraub competed in the 3000m as well, finishing with a time of 9:04.11. Brendan Carroll competed in the 500m dash, earning a top-20 finish, finishing 19 overall and a fourth-place finish in his hear with a time of 1:07.93.
