Jan. 26, 2018

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Leopards reshuffled the record books on Friday morning at the New Balance Invite at the Armory in New York City.

Lafayette earned a second place finish in the women’s distance medley, as the team of Alexa Kwapinski, Amy Hewlett, Crosby Spiess and Margaret Schiazza completed the relay in 11:57.07. The Leopards finished behind Duke University who claimed the top spot with a time of 11:42.66. The showing was good enough for second place on Lafayette’s all-time indoor leaderboard, while also acting as an ECAC qualifying time. Kwapinski is now a member of both the second and third-ranked relay teams in Lafayette history.

Morgan Nobles rounded out the action on the women’s side in the 3000m. Nobles crossed the finish line in 10:50.60, which set a new personal best for the senior.

On the men’s side, senior Matt Weintraub competed in the 3000m as well, finishing with a time of 9:04.11. Brendan Carroll competed in the 500m dash, earning a top-20 finish, finishing 19 overall and a fourth-place finish in his hear with a time of 1:07.93. Full results from the invitational can be found here.

The Leopards continue their busy weekend tomorrow as they take part in the second day of the Bison Invite as well as competing in the Covert Classic.
