Track and Field Competes at NYU Shootout

NYU Shootout Results

New York, N.Y. – Lafayette’s indoor track and field team competed in the NYU Saturday Night Shootout at the NYC Armory. Rose Willey and Elise Buffinton led the way for the women with fourth place finishes in the mile run and pole vault. On the men’s side, Jarrell Bobb took second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.

Willey finished the mile in 5:11.22, while Buffinton vaulted 3.45 meters. In the sprints, Devin Smith took eighth in the 200m finishing with a time of 25.78 and Haley Langton finished seventh in the 400m. Smith and Langton along with Erin Keen and Drew Davis placed sixth in the 4x400m relay.

Mara Blanchard finished in ninth place in the pole vault with a jump of 3.30m. Brittany Powell also took ninth place in the long jump, jumping 5.14m. Rachel Pena and Sarah Talmadge placed seventh and ninth in the shot put, throwing 11.92m and 11.61m respectively.

For the men, David Robinson ran the 200m in 22.8, good for ninth place. Neil Franzese placed ninth in the 400m, finishing in 50.82. In the 3,000m run, Thomas Day took fourth crossing the finish line in 8:45.53. The 4x400m relay team consisting of Bobb, Franzese, Lucas Steele, and Preston Bejabeng finished third with a time of 3:22.99.

In the field events, Colton Mitchell placed sixth in the pole vault with a jump of 4.45m, while Mac Maguire finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 13.98m. Bobb jumped 14.41m in the triple jump and 6.85m in the long jump.

The Leopards are back in action on Saturday when they visit Lehigh for a dual meet.
