Anthony Ayala is in his second season at Lafayette as the Assistant Track & Field and Cross Country coach.
Before coming to Lafayette, Ayala served as the Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country coach for his alma mater, Texas A&M-Kingsville, where he was responsible for helping with day-to-day activities including establishing and following budgets for travel, recruiting, equipment and scholarships, fundraising, overseeing of volunteer assistant coaches and technical coaching of event groups.
In 2011-12, Ayala assisted in the coaching of 11 NCAA Division II All-Americans, the Mexico National 400-hurdles champion, the NCAA Division II Outdoor Triple Jump champion, the NCAA Division II Indoor 200-meter champion, and two additional NCAA Division II Indoor All-Americans.
In the classroom, Ayala earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Kinesiology from Texas A&M-Kingsville in 2008 and 2012, respectively. He also taught undergraduate activity classes within the Kinesiology department as a Teaching Assistant from 2008-2012.
