EASTON, Pa. -
Lafayette senior diver Kevin Oswalt finished in fourth on the three-meter with a score of 259.90 and finished eighth on the one-meter with a score of 228.10 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, held at the University of Pittsburgh.
Lafayette head coach Jim Dailey couldn't have been more pleased with Oswalt's participation and performance at the ECAC's.
"ECAC was an opportunity to compete one more time prior to NCAA Zone A Regional Championships," Dailey said. "He had the opportunity to compete against some other divers that Lafayette does not see all year. He did very well and is ready to perform well in a couple weekends at Rutgers."
Oswalt finished 12th on the platform event at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships held at Rutgers University, setting a new school record of 138.50.
"This meet was amazing," Dailey said. "The NCAA Zone A meet featured the best 41 divers from Maine to Virginia competing for four spots to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships. Even though Kevin finished 36th, he was in an elite group. I'm proud of Kevin for performing so well. He was the first diver in Lafayette diving history to qualify for this meet and he performed very well in a challenging venue."
Dailey commemorated Oswalt for his development and performance over his collegiate career.
"Kevin really came full circle from never competing in three-meter diving before attending Lafayette and in the end of his career qualifying and competing at this meet. On top of that he broke both the one-meter and three-meter diving school records along the way. I hope his career will allow him to pass on this experience and knowledge to young divers in club, high school or college."
