Whiteman named to Academic All-PL Team
EASTON, Pa. - Senior captain Nick Whiteman has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Swimming and Diving Team announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Whiteman is a Chemical Engineering major who holds a cumulative grade-point average of 3.91. He is member of the engineering national honor society as well as the Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi fraternities. He has also been recognized with Scholar All-America status by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Throughout Whiteman's career he has participated in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events. At this year's Patriot League Championships, he raced in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events. Whiteman currently ranks seventh all-time at Lafayette in the 1650 freestyle.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-Patriot League Teams honor student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom. They are voted on by the League's swimming & diving sports information directors, who are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
